Pom Poms

pom1pom4pom2

How fun is this midi skirt!? I love this freakin skirt! LOL! Some say it’s a party in a skirt. ūüôā¬†You can’t really tell from the photos, but the pink pom poms on the skirt stick out and gives the skirt a fun texture.¬† People always ask me “How long did it take you to sew all of those pom poms on there?” LOL!¬† I’ll never tell! ūüėȬ† This skirt is apart of my Limited Edition Collection from my line.¬† You can find it HERE.

I decided to go unexpected and pair this skirt with a light blue button up shirt.  And I loved playing with the contrasting print of the polka look of the skirt so I paired it with my favorite striped heels.  This is such a fun party look.  I definitely had fun wearing it.  Comment below and tell me what your ideal party look would be.

Sapphire Summer

So it’s halfway through the year. Time went by so fast. My business is officially 8 months today!¬† Looking back, I’ve worked my ass off and have learned so much about this business. Although wishing I’d gone to fashion school, I feel like what I’m doing now is the path I’m supposed to be going down.¬† Everything is falling into place and God has literally sent the most amazing people in my life that I would have never seen myself even meeting.

For several years, I prayed that God bless me with my dream job. I prayed for this but not knowing what I wanted my dream job to be.¬† I can truly say that the empire that I am building is the dream job that God dreamt for me.¬† I really wish that I could show you all everything that has happened from April 2013 until now.¬† To think that I’ve ONLY been sewing for 2 years and now own my clothing line that is already in a couple stores within the first year of¬†my collection launching¬†blows my mind.¬† I seriously cannot fathom all of this. I really wish I could take you all down memory lane to see all of the people that I’ve met that volunteered to help me because they believed in me and my brand.¬† These people aren’t just some airheads off the street either. These are some extremely smart people who I still cannot believe they were sent my way. God truly works in mysterious ways.¬† It makes me tear up just looking back at all that has happened and the things I know the future holds.¬† The project that I am working on now behind the scenes¬†literally blows my mind. I cannot even believe that I’m even in the position to be doing it.¬† God is good. He is good to me.¬† If you want something bad enough, put in the work.¬† I hate reading, but I read about the business because I want to be successful.¬† I’m an introvert and hate being around a lot of people, but God has literally pushed me out there and I’ve have the most extraordinary people.¬† I hate public speaking, but with this business, that totally goes out the window. It’s all or nothing.¬† When you have to talk about yourself as a designer and talk about your collection, you have one shot. It’s all God though.¬† God made all of this possible. I give him all of the glory and all of the praise.

Origami

So back in the Spring, I made an open back top that I absolutely fell in love with.¬† I loved it so much, that I wanted to make something similar to transition into the Fall. So. I drafted a pattern out of a top that I already owned and came up with this Origami top.¬† I vlogged my entire process¬†for a video that I will later post. It’s going to be titled “Behind the Scenes of a DIY Fashion Blogger”.¬† I wanted to show you my creative process, and you’ll see me drafting patterns and coming up with ideas for my blog and YouTube, but more info will come out once the video is out which will be in a few weeks.¬† I’ve¬†been doing quite well with the¬†consistency¬†of my¬†videos.¬† I have a video set for every week as of lately, so be sure to subscribe to my channel if you haven’t yet.

Enough with the side rambling.¬† So like I said, I drafted the pattern to make this top, but I will show you in how to make it with a pattern in a future tutorial which will be released in a bout 2 weeks. (Mark your calendars)¬† This is a loose fitting top.¬† I love the peek of skin on the lower back because it’s just enough.¬† If you are not a fan of showing skin at all, you can easily make this top a bit longer to where the cutout hits your bottom.
origamiThe fabric that I chose for this top is a sateen.¬† It has a small amount of stretch and it has a nice, satiny¬†finish.¬† For this top, you don’t necessarily need any stretch. You can make this top with 100% cotton if you like because of the open back, it allows for a lot of movement without the wrinkles.

So every Summer, I run into thrift stores and I grab a few pairs of jeans and turn them into shorts because let’s be real, who in the world wants to spend over $20 on some shorts that you can distress at home?! Not me!¬† I purchased these Levi pants in the Men’s section at the thrift store.¬† I remember doing a post about thrifting when I first started blogging and the #1 rule I mentioned was to be open minded.¬† These “men’s” jeans are the perfect fit and surprisingly high-waist jeans. This cheap and easy look is everywhere and it’s extremely comfortable. My brother, whom some of you may know, has a men’s fashion blog¬†and has recently posted an easy-to-follow tutorial on making your own distressed shorts. In the video, he features 2 styles that you can choose to create.¬† I will link the video at the bottom of this post.¬† But, for now, here is what I am wearing for the 4th (until I slip into some comfortable flats ofcourse!). rwb3rwb2rwb6rwb4rwb5rwb8Tshirt: Target// Sunnies: Target// Hoop Earrings: Charlotte Russe// Shorts: Thrift store + DIY// Heels: Zara

Lady in the Streets

First off, let me describe my style.  Classy, sexy, feminine, safe.  This outfit is everything I mentioned but safe. LOL!  In my regular everyday wear, Im a jeans a t-shirt type of gal.  With blogging, I am able to create a type of alter ego.  This year, I told myself that I was going to step out of my comfort zone and make things that I normally would not wear on an everyday basis, but something that my inner Carrie Bradshaw would wear.

So with that said, I decided¬†on¬†making another¬†peek-a-boo skirt I made in a previous post except with a few adjustments.¬† The previous skirt, I don’t think I’d be comfortable wearing out because it’s a bit too short. So, I made this one a bit longer.¬† I also felt that I wanted a more cohesive look to my skirt so I did not add the strips of fabric like I did with my other skirt.¬†¬†This skirt¬†was easily made without a pattern and the tutorial will be available for purchase¬†soon.

For the crop top, I drafted a shirt pattern on my own for first time ever!! YAY! I was so excited.¬† It took me three tries and I was so relieved when I got it on the third try. As far as sewing it all together…now that was extremely easy.¬†¬†It’s not made for stretchy material which I love. I have not seen any DIY’s on structured crop tops.¬† I’ve only seen tutorials using stretchy fabric. So this one is defintiely perfect for me.

Fall Jewel Tones

This weekend, my BFF and I went to the Virginia Fashion week’s main event.¬† We had a ton of fun. We even vlogged about the event which I will be posting on my YouTube channel soon.¬† Last year we went to VA Fashion week and purchased our outfits. This year we decided to go all out and sew our outfits.

So, this is my BFF, Asia. She just started sewing about 2 months ago.  I went with her to purchase her first sewing machine and we brought it home and I taught her the basics of sewing. If you need those sewing tips/lessons, check out my YouTube channel

.¬† You can tell that she has been practicing because her DIY High-Waist Pallazzo pants came out great.¬† The pattern that she chose was Burda’s 7195.¬† She did change the waistband and made it wider for a more “High-waist” effect.

They can be used for shopping, outings with the family, school, and etc. So yea, it has numerous uses.
